Released in 2003, the Mark Knopfler signature aimed to capture a little of the magic of Knopflers signature red Stratocaster. This particular example comes from the first year of production. Early examples within production featured a factory error and were released in Dakota Red as opposed to the originally advertised Hot Rod Red. Due to the degree of wear, and variances in both colours it is a little hard to tell. Given the time frame though, it's reasonable to assume this is likely Dakota Red. These examples featured an ash body with maple neck and rosewood fretboard and Custom Shop Texas Special pickups were featured in this model. A 7.25" fretboard radius is present as is nitrocellulose lacquer finishing. The finish on these models is notoriously fragile, and this example shows as such. A fun Strat for the Mark Knopfler enthusiast!
Condition is fair with noticeable wear present throughout the body and lacquer separation occurring by the neck join, inside the cutaways, as well as by the base strap pin. Neck is in much better condition with all electronics and hardware appearing original to this example. Includes a worn brown Fender hardcase.
