A fun model from the 1950s!
Designed by Maccaferri and sold under the Islander name, this brand sold tonnes of plastic ukuleles from the late '40s all the way into the '60s, with this being one such example! Composed from Dow Styron plastic, these have quite a nice and springy sound that contrasts nicely against similar wood models of the time period. The back has this beautiful swirl pattern throughout that is also mirrored on the fretboard. Standard soprano scale length and tuned the same way, this example is a great addition to any serious ukulele collection!
Cosmetic condition is very good for its age showing minor wear in the form of minor scratches and dings throughout. There is a small surface crack that runs from the bass side of the fretboard, approaching the G string tuner. However, it appears to be stable and not an issue. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low-medium action. No case or gig bag included.
