Centralab Bumblebee Oil Filled Tone Capacitors
If you're after that warm, vocal tone roll-off vintage Gibsons are known for, a Bumblebee cap is one of the simplest upgrades to get there. These Centralab caps are oil filled and non-inductive, using oil soaked mylar as the dielectric, which is the same construction approach as the original Bumblebee tone caps fitted to early Les Pauls, SGs and ES models.
Swap one into your tone circuit and the difference is in how the high end rolls off. Where ceramic and some modern film caps can sound thin or scratchy as you wind the tone control back, the Bumblebee gives a smoother, more natural darkening of the signal. That's why they're a standard choice for players doing vintage-correct rewiring or just upgrading the tone circuit on any humbucker equipped guitar.
Rated to 300V, well above what a passive guitar circuit ever sees, so longevity isn't a concern. A straightforward, drop-in upgrade for anyone chasing a more authentic vintage tone response.
