Regal was established in Indianapolis in 1896, and throughout its lifetime manufactured a variety of stringed instruments until being acquired by Harmony in 1954. This particular example appears to have been manufactured sometime in the 1940s based off other similar examples from this time period. Features a slot-head headstock design, with what appear to be the original tuning pegs. A very pronounced V-neck profile is featured, which is common for guitars during this time period. Super comfortable to play!
At some stage the guitar has been resprayed with quite an interesting graphic featuring the phrase, 'red belcher's favorite'. Based on the spelling of favourite, we can only assume who ever did the graphic was more than likely American.
This particular example is acoustically lively, with a pleasantly mid-range focused attack. Sounds particularly good when detuned 1/2 - 1 step below E standard! Playability is also excellent, with a nice and comfortable low action.
Hardware is fully functional, and plays well with a low action thanks to a neck reset at some point. It also appears the bridge was re-attached at some point, having been re-glued and screwed down, and there is a very slight amount of warp where the bridge attaches to the top, but it doesn't affect playability and seems solid with little chance of changing. Includes an aftermarket gig bag.
We love it, a tonne of vintage acoustic vibe, and an absolute bargain at this price!
