Short scale and a lot of fun, this '75 Musicmaster is a new shop favourite!
Originally introduced in 1971, the Fender Musicmaster Bass was intended as a stripped down and more simple to use bass in comparison to the Mustang bass. Surprisingly enough, these basses use six-pole Stratocaster pickups (no doubt to use up surplus parts) which wasn't found in any other comparable basses manufactured by Fender.
This examples serial and neck stamp (16th week of '75) dates it to 1975. Features original pots from the 33rd week of 1974, with original wiring and pickup (grey bobbin) intact. At some stage it has had a new screw and washer added to the lower bout of the pickguard along with what appears to be a replaced nut. The rest however is all there!
Sounds awesome plugged in, with a very groovy mid-range and attack only found on these kinds of basses.
Hardware is fully functional, neck is straight, and is currently setup with round wounds, and plays well with a low medium action. Cosmetic condition is sound, with what appears to be the original Olympic White finish fading to a nice yellow.
