1961 Gibson ES-125TDC Sunburst
Sold Out
One of our personal favourite P90-equipped Gibsons of recent memory!
The ES-125 served as one of Gibsons more affordable hollowbody options throughout its production run. This particular example, dating to 1961, is a thinline model with cutaway and two pickups (arguably as good as ES-125s get). Retaining its original cherry sunburst finish, these models feature a maple body construction with mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard. Typical for this period is an early '60s slim neck profile which most importantly boasts a full, 1 11/16" nut width. Under the hood are two original P90 pickups, which perfectly compliment this example, resulting in a beautifully airy and resonant tone. All pots show the same levels of corrosion, with the year 1961 pulled from the neck volume control. Original single line Kluson tuners are present, and are still holding steady all these years later. A strap pin has been replaced as well as evidence of two prior strap holes on the heel of the neck which have been patched up. A spacer has been installed under the bridge pickup. Nut appears to be a possible replacement. Frets have plenty of life and crown in them, thus could have been a really good refret some time ago.
Cosmetic condition is very good for its age, showing signs of wear in the form of dings, scratches, and checking throughout. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a medium action. Includes a modern Gibson-branded hardcase.
