Super cool offering from Danelectro, right from the 1960s! The Danelectro Convertible is essentially an acoustic/electric hybrid with a fully hollow construction, boasting a masonite/pine body and poplar neck. A single lipstick pickup is mounted on a round sound hole, hence the 'Convertible' name since the model was designed for both plugged and unplugged in use.

Introduced as the entry level model from Danelectro, these guitars have gone on to some acclaim being used by players such as JJ Cale and Tom Waits, to name just two.

This example is more than likely an early '60s example, which at some point has had the original tailpiece swapped out for an aftermarket replacement and the aluminium nut replaced with a bone nut. It has quite a bit of wear (which we think makes Danelectros even cooler!), and there is noticeable sink to the top of the guitar, but doesn't affect playability in a major way. Plays well with a medium/low action and sounds great acoustically and plugged in!

Overall, a super cool vintage oddball Danelectro, at a great price!
