1957 Kamico K-136 Two Tone

A stunning example from the late '50s!

Becoming highly coveted in recent years, Kay instruments were also sold under a host of alternative names including this example which was sold under the brand name of 'Kamico'. A look at the pots reveals an approximate date of manufacture of 1957. Composed of a hardwood body with two-tone lacquer finish, this example also features a rosewood fretboard and a neck profile that is quite substantial and chunky in hand. Throughout from what we can tell, this example appears to be original, besides the tuners which are later two-line Kluson examples. No truss rod on these, but who needs one when you've got a neck this chunky!

Cosmetic condition is good for its age, showing the usual signs of wear in the form of dings, scratches, and checking all throughout the instrument. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a medium-high action, as is often typical for these non-truss rod models, lowering the action would require more intensive luthier work.
