1930s-gibson-tg-30-tenor-black
1930s Gibson TG-30 Tenor Black

A gorgeous historical example from the Depression era!

Serving often as a way for the typical banjo instrument to switch onto a guitar, Tenor guitars initially saw introduction during the 1920s and were a notable component of many manufacturers catalogues up until the 1960s. This particular example appears to date to the mid-1930s, and is a TG-30 model, taking its body shape cues from the L-30 model that existed at the time. Composed of a spruce top with maple back and sides, these examples boast a deep 'V' neck profile with a super slim 29mm nut width. Single bound body and interestingly enough, like its six-string counterpart, a flat back. Typically tuned to either CGDA or GDAE, these are outrageously fun to play. Bar a replacement strap pin, this example appears to be all original from what we can work out.

Cosmetic condition is good for its age showing signs of wear to the finish throughout in the form of scratches, dings, checking, and pick mark wear. Hardware is fully functional, and plays with a low action. Includes a 1970s-period hardcase.
